I'm in the process of researching the Alapaha (I want to purchase one this year) and most searches point me back to CRK. I've visited CRK's site dozens of times and one thing seems strange. I'm hoping someone on this site can help me figure this out. If you go to "About CRK" (http://www.oldplantationbulldogs.com/about.html) they define their goal as follows:
Our goal is to restore the diminished earlier type bulldog similar to Papa Buck Lane’s Otto IV and Chester’s Black Jack;
When you click on Chester's Black Jack to see a picture of the dog it looks nothing like the dogs at CRK. Even the drawing of what Papa Buck Lane's Otto IV looked like isn't similar to the CRK Alapaha look.
Anyone have any idea why CRK's dogs look so different then the dogs they are trying to "restore"? Also, the number on their website is disconnected...does anyone have their new phone number?
A lot of the more recent dogs are worked and trained very hard, and they are also fed a lot more than they were back in the day as such they are more muscular.
